Vans Brings Harris Tweed to the Old Skool

Update, September 10, 2026: Vans confirmed a September 24th, 2026 release date and $140 price tag for the Harris Tweed Old Skool, part of a three shoe capsule that also includes a Slip On and Loafer 53.

Vans has had a hell of a year playing with materials and inspiration for their classic sneakers. This Fall, the Old Skool gets a textile update from Harris Tweed, coloring the low top in a palette of blue tones.

Harris Tweed is a special fabric that has been woven in Scotland for generations. The textile is not made by a specific brand, but the Harris name refers to the island Lewis with Harris, one of a series of islands that make up the Outer Hebrides, roughly 25 miles from the Scottish mainland. The cloth’s integrity is maintained by the Harris Tweed Authority, whose guidelines ensure that any fabric officially designated as Harris Tweed is handwoven by the island’s natives. This week, we have an early look at a new Harris Tweed clad sneaker, the Vans Old Skool. This pair continues the string of detailed releases we’ve seen from Vans over the past year, adding chrome spikes, gems, pins, and embroidery hits for an immense level of detail. The tweed textile itself comes in shades of blue with small hints of green and orange, paired with a deep navy leather for the toes, heels, and eyestays.

The next special release from Vans’ Off the Wall label brings new materials to the Old Skool, releasing September 24th, 2026. Borrowing the famous Harris Tweed for this release, the silhouette comes in a mix of blue tones for the eponymous textile, paired with dark navy blue leather accents, and an assortment of spikes, gems, and pins attached. Pairs will be available through both Vans and select retailers. Pricing for this drop lands at $140.

The Old Skool arrives as one third of a wider Harris Tweed collection from Vans. The capsule also includes a Slip On done up in an earthy Tweed Red, brown, and khaki palette for $130, and a Loafer 53 in a fuzzy penny style with a formalized upper for $120. All three pairs share orange cheetah print insoles and distressed sole units, and the full collection releases together on September 24th, 2026.
