The ASICS “Home And Away” Pack Leans On Silver And Teal

It pays to wear the Stripes. Retailers have been able to drum up attention for their stocked roster of silhouettes with exclusive colorways for decades now, but it’s hard to argue with the relationships that Foot Locker maintains, recently delving into a “Safari Pack” with Nike and now turning to two of ASICS’ beloved tech runners for an upcoming “Home & Aaway” pack release.

Uniting the GEL-1130 and GEL-Cumulus 16 is the prompt here, turning over a cost-conscious favorite and a recent (re)inductee in the GEL-Cumulus 16, notable for its bulbed sole platform and the same mix of synthetics and mesh that’s propelled plenty of the Japanese giant’s other propositions to market dominance. Here, chrome and teal are the aesthetic script, yet either shoe takes contrasting approaches to their application.

For the GEL-Cumulus 16, it’s a color-forward approach, building black trim atop a darkened aquamarine foundation, with the silvery Y2K tonality in the Tiger logo and GEL units adding a final flourish. For the GEL-1130, things are a bit more familiar, as the combination of black and metallic silver we’ve seen across their offerings makes a repeat appearance. It’s the titular teal that gets the tertiary role, bringing some extra life to a formula that’s worked countless times before.

Both these “Black/Teal/Silver” Foot Locker exclusives drop on August 16th via Foot Locker and Champs stores and via their websites. The GEL-1130 clocks in at $110, while the GEL-Cumulus 16 commands a $150 retail price.
