Nike’s Foamposite Inspired Tennis Shoe, The Vapor X Posite, Returns This Fall

The Nike Vapor X Posite is getting a second chance. Ths basketball-meets-tennis hybrid model boldly combined the iconic molded upper of the Air Foamposite One with the lightweight tooling of the Vapor X, creating one of the more unexpected crossovers in Nike’s performance catalog.

Curiously, the model’s original release flew almost entirely under the radar, gaining a small following among collectors. Although it debuted in the legendary “Royal” Foamposite colorway, Nike never officially announced the shoe or launched it through Nike.com. Instead, pairs quietly surfaced at outlets and off-price retailers, leaving many sneaker enthusiasts to discover the silhouette on marketplaces such as eBay. Pairs were able to be had for under $100 brand new.

Now, Nike is giving the Vapor X Posite a proper return with two new colorways inspired by Foamposite history. The unmistakable “Copper” makeup headlines the collection, while a vibrant Metallic Orange edition offers another bold take on the hybrid design. For longtime Foamposite fans, the revival represents another opportunity to experience one of Nike’s most overlooked performance experiments.

While basketball and tennis demand remarkably similar movements with its explosive sprints to sharp lateral cuts and quick changes in direction, the Vapor X Posite was among the most ambitious examples of Nike adapting basketball DNA for the tennis court. Other examples of this crossover include the Vapor 12 Hypersmash, which looks identical to the Hyperdunk Low.

The Nike Vapor X Posite is expected to return this August in both “Copper” and Metallic Orange colorways for $170.
