Devin Booker’s appreciation for sneaker history continues to shape his signature footwear, with the Phoenix Suns star revealing an alternate version of the Nike Book 2 “Just Don” ahead of the team’s preseason game against the Chicago Bulls.
Earlier this June, Nike released a special Book 2 inspired by Don C’s celebrated Air Jordan 2 collaboration from a decade ago. Designed by Ben Kirschner, who was behind a number of collaborations as well as promotional and player-exclusive sneakers during his time at Jordan Brand, the Book 2 borrowed the luxurious all-leather construction and signature quilted upper that made the original Just Don collaboration so recognizable.
Booker’s latest PE takes that same formula and dresses it almost entirely in black with orange hits on the outsole, offering a darker alternative to the previously released edition.
An all-black Just Don x Air Jordan 2 never officially reached retail. However, Kirschner created one in black quilted leather, a white midsole, and gold hardware. He was also behind the unreleased all-gold edition as well as an ever-elusive 14k version that rarely sees the light of day. Below are some newly revealed photos shared to Sneaker News by Kirschner.
This Nike Book 2 “Just Don” in black is another exampleof how Booker and Nike continue to mine basketball footwear history for inspiration, using his signature line to revisit celebrated designs and even unreleased concepts from the past. For now, the all-black Nike Book 2 “Just Don” remains a player-exclusive sample, with no confirmation of a public release.
