The 991 is already one of New Balance’s most enduring silhouettes, but this version feels particularly well suited to the season. The whole thing gets wrapped in luxe suede, with warm brown tones that make it considerably more interesting than your usual gray 991.

The color is really what makes this one. That deep, earthy brown gives the familiar 991 a softer, richer feel, while the suede adds plenty of texture without needing anything particularly loud going on.

It’s also a nice reminder that New Balance doesn’t need to completely reinvent a classic to make it feel fresh. The 991 is still very much the 991, but the luxe treatment gives it a slightly different character and one that feels especially right as we head into the colder months.
