The New Balance 983 Dresses Up In Earthy “Thunder Brown”

There was a time when brands fought leaks tooth and nail, but increasingly, we’re getting a deep sense of what upcoming models have in store directly from the companies themselves. The Nike Caitlin 1 has had several colorways “leaked” by the woman herself ahead of its debut, adidas’ Jellyfish has nearly half a dozen colorways in the can already. With New Balance’s truly absurd output of new models, it’s only right that they’ve embraced the same strategy, as fresh colorways of the New Balance 983 keep rolling in ahead of its October 1st debut.

Compared to the vibrant green, red, and blue colorways we’ve already seen, the New Balance 983 “Thunder Brown” is far more in line with the Boston brand’s typical aesthetics. A diamond-knit mesh foundation evolves into dark grey synthetics and tough brown suede as you work up the layered construction of this silhouette. Despite those more standard color choices, the six ABZORB pods in the sole and circular cut-outs up top still allow this pair to occupy an eccentric, futuristic lane all the same.

The New Balance 983 “Thunder Brown” drops via EU stockists on October 1st; stateside details are yet to be confirmed.
