The Jordan Son Of Mars Low Reaches For “Fire Red”

“When they go Hi, we go Lo.” That’s been a reliable strategy for Nike, Inc. over the past few years, retrofitting many of its classic silhouettes in refreshed, shortened editions that have paid dividends in turning the chunky icons of old into something a bit more approachable. For the Jumpman, it’s made the divisive Spizike into a reliable staple shoe as the Spizike Low. Looking ahead to next year, the Swoosh is plotting the same for the Air Bakin, already queuing up the Jae Tips Bakin Low, if the Saucony defector’s first Nike collab is any signal of the priority on that model for ’27.

To be clear, the Jordan Son Of Mars Low traces its origins all the way back to 2013. It may not exactly fit the bill of those aforementioned modernized versions, yet its chopped-down aesthetics are nonetheless of a piece of recent moves out of Beaverton. Keeping Jumpman DNA at its core is this Jordan Son of Mars Low in “Fire Red,” clearly taking cues from the black-tongue Air Jordan 5 that last released for the silhouette’s 35th anniversary. Or, depending on your favored Retro model, perhaps it’s closer to the Air Jordan 3 or Air Jordan 4’s take on the concept. Regardless of where you ascribe its greatest inspiration, it’s a more cost-conscious way to get in on one of Mike’s most iconic colorways.
