It’s been a banner year for ASICS collaborations so far, from Up There to CARNAN to the return of Ronnie Fieg’s “Salmon Toe” GEL-LYTE III and more. Now atmos Indonesia is checking in with a pair worthy of similar praise, touching down on the GEL-Kayano 12.1 silhouette with a wonderfully wearable look inspired by archipelagos.
An archipelago, if you don’t already know, is a cluster of islands grouped together, Indonesia being the largest in the entire world. The greenery of those islands is alluded to on the midsole, tongue, and heel, all painted in a rich shade reminiscent of trees, or maybe even the waters the islands sit in.
The rest of the sneaker is understated in the best way, the mesh and synthetic leather foundation cleaning up in neutral shades of cream and grey. Red insoles featuring atmos x ASICS stamps carry the only real co-branding, while tan outsoles make for a fan favorite finish underfoot.
The atmos x ASICS GEL-Kayano 12.1 “Archipelago” drops October 15th exclusively via atmos. Check out official images below if you’ll be searching for a pair.
