KAWS and Jordan Brand first teamed up on the Air Jordan 4 in 2017. That project produced the “Cool Grey” and “Black” colorways, both of which became highly sought-after releases. Now, the two are expected to revisit the silhouette for a new “Dark Grey” edition. This also comes exactly 10 years after the original collaboration.
The color scheme is currently listed as Dark Grey/Dark Grey. That puts the new Air Jordan 4 somewhere between the original Cool Grey and Black editions from 2017. If Jordan Brand follows the tonal approach used on the first collaboration, the new color could give the Air Jordan 4 a very clean appearance.
Based on the previous KAWS Air Jordan 4 releases, there is speculation that the new version could use premium suede and feature KAWS’ signature graphics. However, those details have not been confirmed for the 2027 model.
The original collaboration completely changed the appearance of the Air Jordan 4. KAWS covered the 2017 “Cool Grey” in premium suede and added his signature hand-drawn graphics throughout the upper. The usual Jumpman branding was replaced with KAWS’ “XX” motif on the heel, while the outsole featured artwork that glowed in the dark. The “Cool Grey” released globally on March 31, 2017, for $350.

Bottom Line
The “Dark Grey” KAWS x Air Jordan 4 brings back one of Jordan Brand’s most memorable artist collaborations. The timing is especially important, as the release will arrive 10 years after the original project. For now, the Dark Grey color scheme, $500 price, and KAWS connection are enough to make this a major release for 2027, although it will be on the expensive side.
