The adidas Samba Puts A Metallic Spin On Animal Print

We’ve surely evoked Grace Wales Bonner before in the realm of general release Sambas, but all it takes is one stroll through adidas’ catalog to see that her influence is absolutely undeniable.

Yet what’s better than using one of the hallmarks of the UK designer’s efforts? How about a style that combines almost all of them? That’s the question that adidas is asking with this metallic x animal print Samba, a concept they’ve now delivered in two different color executions. Though white and black fur appear in patches throughout the upper, what register as liquid metal pools on the siding deliver the fashion-forward flare that helped much of Bonner’s work become undeniable. Depending on your personal aesthetic, adidas delivers a brighter “Cloud White/Silver” and a darker “Black/Silver.”
